Iterating Through The AI Gap

As someone who is actively participating in the AI space, I find myself going through something you may be able to relate to.

I scroll through flashy AI headlines like 'The Do's and Don'ts of AI Integration’, ‘This Business Just 100x’d Their Productivity With AI’ or maybe the grandest of them all, ‘AI Is More Important Than Fire

Though promising, they also induce a bit of analysis paralysis.

They’d lead you to believe the world is racing ahead, and the fear of being left behind is visceral.

Queue panic-induced adoption.

This noise started with the launch of ChatGPT.

Seemingly overnight the world had a new transformational technology. It immediately became a shiny toy that everyone was eager to play with.

But how did we go from fun to fomo?

The reason is, AI has broken away from a trajectory that previous trends followed.

Usually, a new technology will start out only accessible to the technically inclined. The learning curve is steep, and you may need specialized expertise to get started.

However, over a few years this new tech will iteratively get more welcoming to a point where we start to see mass adoption. What once was inaccessible to many becomes approachable to all.

With AI, accessibility came overnight - but we don’t yet have AI’s foundational tools and philosophy. Now we’re scrambling to iterate through this gap.

Our reaction has been immediate and turbulent:

  • A crypto-esque “AI gold rush” fervor is taking over social media

  • Businesses are self-organizing internally with “AI Committees” because the market lacks leadership

  • And seemingly every AI startup is getting funding from VCs who are frantically spreading their bets

It’s nauseating isn’t it? Ya, I’m with you.

It’s getting to the point where you aren’t sure where the signal separates from the noise. One might also think that there is too much noise to get value from AI.

It is probably best to sit back and wait this out, right? I’m here to tell you, in the most fun way possible. No it’s not!

Businesses are seizing the opportunity to explore this new technology and already sharing early wins.

Customer service reps are getting speedboosts with automated tools, sales reps are learning from previous calls faster than ever, and copywriting teams are moving from staring at a blank page to polishing drafts from AI.

And it’s not just for internal use cases either. Product and engineering teams are embedding AI into virtually every part of their products to create more value for their customers.

Businesses have a choice - whether or not to embrace and experiment in the early days of AI.

We’re still in the early innings.

The path forward is to approach the change from a place of curiosity but based in reality. Be ruthless about the noise, educate your team on which new problems have been unlocked, train your employees on AI safety, but most of all, choose the path that embraces change.

I’m getting tired of the noise, so let’s make the signal concrete, together.

I’m going to share case studies of businesses using AI for productivity, evangelize business leader’s frameworks and help you experiment with your team.

It’s my mission to figure out how I can help you usher this mindset shift within your organization.

Let’s create more value with AI.
